Getting ready to install a new floor

I am going to be installing new laminate floors, this coming weekend and week. I can't wait! Tonight my little sister Chantel came over and helped me rip up all my carpet downstairs, shes awesome! My Mother and I went to lumber liquidators last weekend for the big annual sale, where I bought enough flooring to do my entire downstairs. Then my step dad who is also awesome, went and picked up the flooring and brought it over tonight.

This is going to be a big project for me, but I have been watching lots of how to video's on YouTube, hopefully I can do it! I think I can, I think I can! hehe. I am installing  a click together floating floor, with the under pad pre attached to each board. It's a tad bit more expensive to get the kind with the under pad pre-attached but its sound so much easier, I think it will be worth it.

Ripping up the carpet was easier then I expected it to be!
My sub floor seems to be in really good condition, I am happy about that! I still have some more staples and nails to pull out. I have a few days to work on that though because you have to let the floors sit for a couple days in the environment they are going to be in before installing.

I think I am going to lay it the way closet to me, farthest from the dogs in the picture. What do you think? I am really happy with the color.

Have you done this before? Have any advice for me? I'd love to hear anything and everything that may be helpful! Thanks.

On another note....

Goodnight All, Sweet Dreams.

  7. We did the same thing about 1.5 years ago...laminate flooring with the same pad from Lumber Liquidators. It is amazing flooring. It has made our house look so beautiful and classy, not to mention clean! As the person said above, don't forget to stagger the flooring. Also, use the Bellawood floor cleaner. It is the BEST stuff ever! It makes your floors just shine and it's simple and fast to clean with. I've tried other cleaners from Lowe's etc., and have remained faithful to LL's cleaner. It is awesome! Good luck! I can't wait to see it when it's all done!

  10. The floor is in good condition, indeed. And the color has a touch of boldness to it. It is beautiful. That's pretty good for a first timer like you, Janae. I'm glad that your research has paid off. Are you finished pulling the nails? Be careful when doing so. To reduce the risk of the trim splitting, cut the head off the nails that are embedded in the trim. After that, grasp the nails behind the trim and pull the nail backward through it - I hope you keep that in mind.
